Bringing
History
to Life

Support for the T. Thomas Fortune Foundation, a non-profit 501c-3 organization, funds the  operation and exciting public programs of the Cultural Center, that are permanent and traveling exhibitions, art installations and collections, a research library, lectures, readings, movie nights, teacher trainings, community heritage projects and financial literacy counseling.

Our signature Fortune Tellers program for middle, high school and college students is engaging them in social justice and artistic activism, speaking to today’s issues, as T. Thomas Fortune once did during his time. Bridging the old with the new.

The T. Thomas Fortune House is one of only two National Historic Landmarks in New Jersey devoted to African American heritage. The house was salvaged, restored and rehabilitated by Roger Mumford Homes and bequeathed to the T. Thomas Fortune Foundation for use as a Cultural Center devoted to history, education, art and social justice. Bringing History to Life.
